Use AssistCall with PayPal
AssistCall answers your business calls 24/7 and can send each call, message and booking to PayPal through Webhook, Zapier, Make, n8n.
PayPal: PayPal is an online payments service that small businesses use to accept payments and send invoices that customers can pay online.
Connects
Example call
A caller asks for a price on a two-hour photo session. AssistCall takes her details, a Make scenario creates a draft PayPal invoice in her name, and the next morning the owner checks the amount and sends it from PayPal.
- When a caller asks for a quote, a Make scenario uses PayPal's Create a draft invoice module, so staff can check the amount and send it from PayPal.
- When AssistCall books an appointment that needs a deposit and the caller gave an email address, a Zap creates a PayPal invoice for the deposit amount you set, and staff send it with Send Invoice once they've checked it.
- Forward your line to AssistCall after hours. Callers with payment questions leave their name, number, reason and urgency, and you get the summary by email.
How it connects
- Webhook: Signed JSON for every call, message and booking, sent to any HTTPS URL you choose.
- Zapier: Send AssistCall events to a Zap (Webhooks by Zapier, Catch Hook), then use the app's Zapier actions. Needs a paid Zapier plan.
- Make: Start a Make scenario with a custom webhook and use the app's Make modules.
- n8n: Start an n8n workflow with a webhook node, then call the app with its node or an HTTP request.
- Call forwarding: Forward your business line to AssistCall when busy, after hours or always. Works with any carrier.
About PayPal's API
- Self-serve API: you can create a key in your account
- Style: REST (JSON), Invoicing API v2
- Authentication: OAuth 2.0 client credentials. The client ID and secret are exchanged for an access token that expires (about 9 hours in PayPal's example response).
- On Zapier: yes. On Make: yes.
A business account holder can create REST API credentials in the PayPal Developer Dashboard. Every API call needs a fresh access token from /v1/oauth2/token, and those tokens expire, so AssistCall's live API lookup (which uses one fixed token) can't call PayPal. Use Zapier (Create Invoice, Send Invoice, and Search Invoice, which looks an invoice up by its ID), Make's PayPal app (which includes Create a draft invoice), or n8n's PayPal node or HTTP Request node instead. PayPal webhooks cover payments, invoices and subscriptions.
