Use AssistCall with Smokeball
AssistCall answers your business calls 24/7 and can send each call, message and booking to Smokeball through Webhook, Zapier.
Smokeball: Practice management software for small law firms. It offers automatic time capture, matter management, document automation and billing.
Connects
Example call
A client calls after hours asking for an update on her estate matter, and the receptionist takes a non-urgent message. A Zap adds a memo to her Smokeball matter and creates a callback task, and her lawyer sees both in Smokeball the next morning.
- When the receptionist captures a new lead, a Zap creates a Lead in Smokeball with the caller's details and reason for calling.
- After a call from an existing client, a Zap finds the contact and matter and adds a Matter Memo with the call summary and recording link.
- When a caller asks for a callback, Zapier creates a Task in Smokeball for the responsible lawyer.
How it connects
- Webhook: Signed JSON for every call, message and booking, sent to any HTTPS URL you choose.
- Zapier: Send AssistCall events to a Zap (Webhooks by Zapier, Catch Hook), then use the app's Zapier actions. Needs a paid Zapier plan.
- Call forwarding: Forward your business line to AssistCall when busy, after hours or always. Works with any carrier.
About Smokeball's API
- Partner API: the vendor approves access
- Style: REST
- Authentication: OAuth 2.0 (authorization code, or client credentials for private apps)
- On Zapier: yes. On Make: no.
Law firms request API access through their Smokeball account manager, and developers apply to the Smokeball Partner Program for pre-approval. Credentials come from the Smokeball Developer Console. Tokens expire and must be refreshed. Webhooks are HMAC-signed, can arrive out of order or more than once, and changes made through the API also fire them. The Zapier app connects with a Smokeball login after choosing the region, and Smokeball's own help center documents it.
Not included: no one-click Smokeball app, no listing in Smokeball's marketplace, no two-way sync, and no partnership with Smokeball.
