Use AssistCall with Toast
AssistCall answers your business calls 24/7 and can send each call, message and booking to Toast through Live API actions, Webhook, n8n.
Toast: Toast is a point-of-sale and restaurant management platform that full-service and quick-service restaurants use for orders, payments, menus and staff.
Connects
Example call
A caller asks if the brisket is still available tonight. AssistCall reads the Toast stock API (read-only) and answers. The manager gets an email with the call summary and recording link.
- During a call, read the Toast stock API with your own read-only credentials so the receptionist can tell a caller whether a menu item is out of stock
- During a call, check Toast's restaurant availability API to tell callers whether the restaurant is taking online orders right now
- Take phone and catering orders as detailed messages emailed to staff, who enter them in Toast (standard API access can't create orders)
How it connects
- Live API actions: During the call, the receptionist calls the app's API with your key to look up or create records.
- Webhook: Signed JSON for every call, message and booking, sent to any HTTPS URL you choose.
- n8n: Start an n8n workflow with a webhook node, then call the app with its node or an HTTP request.
- Call forwarding: Forward your business line to AssistCall when busy, after hours or always. Works with any carrier.
About Toast's API
- Self-serve API: you can create a key in your account
- Style: REST
- Authentication: Client ID and client secret (standard API access credentials), exchanged for a bearer token that expires
- On Zapier: no. On Make: no.
Standard API access is self-serve in Toast Web for US restaurants on Restaurant Management Suite Essentials or higher. The user needs the Manage Integrations permission and must be an active employee of the location. It is read-only: GET requests only (POST returns 403), and every request is per location. Scopes include orders, menus v2, stock, restaurants and restaurant availability, labor and config. Creating orders needs a custom integration that the Toast integrations team approves. The client secret has to be exchanged for a token that expires, so in practice a small middle step (for example an n8n workflow that logs in and then calls Toast) sits between AssistCall and Toast. Standard API access can also manage webhook subscriptions in Toast Web. We found no Zapier or Make app for Toast.
