Nutshell: A CRM with built-in email marketing, for small B2B sales teams tracking leads, people, companies and activities.
Connects
Example call
A distributor's customer calls about a bulk order while the reps are out. The receptionist takes the company name, product and quantity. A Zap creates a Nutshell lead with the details, and the rep finds the new lead and call summary in Nutshell.
- After a call, a Zap finds or creates the person in Nutshell and logs the call as an activity with the AssistCall summary.
- lead.captured events create a Nutshell lead through Make, ready for the sales team to qualify.
- appointment.booked events log a meeting activity on the person's Nutshell record through Zapier.
How it connects
- Webhook: Signed JSON for every call, message and booking, sent to any HTTPS URL you choose.
- Live API actions: During the call, the receptionist calls the app's API with your key to look up or create records.
- Zapier: Send AssistCall events to a Zap (Webhooks by Zapier, Catch Hook), then use the app's Zapier actions. Needs a paid Zapier plan.
- Make: Start a Make scenario with a custom webhook and use the app's Make modules.
- n8n: Start an n8n workflow with a webhook node, then call the app with its node or an HTTP request.
- Call forwarding: Forward your business line to AssistCall when busy, after hours or always. Works with any carrier.
About Nutshell's API
- Self-serve API: you can create a key in your account
- Style: REST, JSON-RPC and GraphQL
- Authentication: HTTP Basic: a Nutshell user's email as the username and an API key from Setup > API keys as the password
- On Zapier: yes. On Make: yes.
API keys are created under Setup > API keys, and requests go to app.nutshell.com over HTTPS. Nutshell sends webhooks when records change, for example when a contact is edited or a lead is won. The docs don't say which plans include the API, and this research did not confirm a REST endpoint for searching people by phone.
Not included: no one-click Nutshell app, no listing in Nutshell's marketplace, no two-way sync, and no partnership with Nutshell.
