Use AssistCall with Ooma Office
Keep your Ooma Office number. Forward it to AssistCall when you're busy, don't pick up or after hours, and every call gets answered, booked or turned into a message, with a summary by email.
Ooma Office: Low-cost VoIP phone system for small businesses, with desk phones, a mobile app and a virtual receptionist menu.
Connects
Example call
A customer calls a hardware store on Sunday. Ooma's Virtual Receptionist routes the call to the AssistCall shared external line, which takes an order question and callback number, and the manager reads the message by email on Monday.
- Add AssistCall as a Shared External Line and point the Virtual Receptionist's after-hours rule at it, so after-hours callers are answered (Pro Plus).
- Send a ring group's unanswered calls to the AssistCall line so callers aren't stuck in voicemail when everyone is busy.
- Get the summary, transcript and recording link of every forwarded call by email so staff can follow up the next morning.
How it connects
- Call forwarding: Forward your business line to AssistCall when busy, after hours or always. Works with any carrier.
About Ooma Office's API
- API access not confirmed
- Style: No public API found
- Authentication: Not applicable
- On Zapier: no. On Make: no.
We found no public developer API, and no Zapier or Make app for Ooma. Forwarding to an outside number from group extensions uses a Shared External Line (Ooma Office Pro Plus): at office.ooma.com go to Settings > ADD > Shared External Line, enter your AssistCall number, and leave 'Required key press on answer' off, or the receptionist will be asked to press 1. Then pick that line as a destination in a Virtual Receptionist (which supports time-of-day and day-of-week routing rules), a Ring Group, a Call Queue or a user's call handling. Check your plan before setting this up.
Not included: no one-click Ooma Office app, no listing in Ooma Office's marketplace, no two-way sync, and no partnership with Ooma, Inc..
