Use AssistCall with Vonage Business Communications
Keep your Vonage Business Communications number. Forward it to AssistCall when you're busy, don't pick up or after hours, and every call gets answered, booked or turned into a message, with a summary by email.
Vonage Business Communications: Vonage's cloud phone system for small and mid-size businesses, with desk phones, a desktop and mobile app, and a virtual receptionist.
Connects
Example call
A patient calls a physical therapy clinic's Vonage number on Saturday. The Virtual Receptionist's after-hours schedule sends the call to AssistCall, which books a Monday evaluation and emails the clinic the summary.
- Add an after-hours schedule to your Vonage Virtual Receptionist that sends calls to your AssistCall number, so evening and weekend callers are answered.
- Add AssistCall as the last number in a Follow Me or Never Miss a Call sequence so calls nobody picks up reach the receptionist instead of voicemail.
- Turn on Forward All Calls to AssistCall with Originating Caller ID during a staff meeting or day off, and read each call summary by email afterwards.
How it connects
- Call forwarding: Forward your business line to AssistCall when busy, after hours or always. Works with any carrier.
About Vonage Business Communications's API
- API access not confirmed
- Style: REST (Vonage Business Communications APIs)
- Authentication: OAuth 2.0; access tokens expire after 24 hours and refresh tokens after 7 days
- On Zapier: no. On Make: no.
The Vonage Business Communications APIs use OAuth tokens that expire, so AssistCall can't call them live with a fixed header. Vonage's marketplace describes a Zapier app for this product, but Zapier's page for it was not found in October 2026, and Make's Vonage app covers Vonage's developer APIs, not this phone system. Forwarding: users set Settings > Call Forwarding > Forward All Calls with an outside number (choose 'Originating Caller ID' so the caller's number shows); admins use Phone System > Extensions > Call Forwarding. For after-hours routing, Vonage points to the Virtual Receptionist: a third-party guide describes adding an after-hours schedule under Phone System > Virtual Receptionists > Schedules & Call Flows and sending calls to an outside number. Never Miss a Call and Follow Me can ring several numbers in sequence.
Not included: no one-click Vonage Business Communications app, no listing in Vonage Business Communications's marketplace, no two-way sync, and no partnership with Vonage (an Ericsson company).
