Use AssistCall with Smartsheet
AssistCall answers your business calls 24/7 and can send each call, message and booking to Smartsheet through Zapier, Make, n8n, Live API actions.
Smartsheet: A work management platform that looks like a spreadsheet, used to run projects, schedules and requests, mostly by mid-size and larger teams and by construction, facilities and professional services firms.
Connects
Example call
A tenant calls the facilities line to report a broken door lock. The receptionist takes the details and adds a row to the 'Work orders' sheet in Smartsheet, and the facilities manager sees the new row at the top of the sheet.
- Add a row to a 'Service requests' sheet for every message.taken event, with the caller, reason and urgency, using Zapier's or Make's Smartsheet actions.
- During a call, the receptionist adds a row at the top of your work-order sheet through Smartsheet's API with your access token, so the request is logged before the caller hangs up.
- Log every completed call, with its summary and recording link, in a project's call log sheet through an n8n HTTP Request node.
How it connects
- Zapier: Send AssistCall events to a Zap (Webhooks by Zapier, Catch Hook), then use the app's Zapier actions. Needs a paid Zapier plan.
- Make: Start a Make scenario with a custom webhook and use the app's Make modules.
- n8n: Start an n8n workflow with a webhook node, then call the app with its node or an HTTP request.
- Live API actions: During the call, the receptionist calls the app's API with your key to look up or create records.
- Call forwarding: Forward your business line to AssistCall when busy, after hours or always. Works with any carrier.
About Smartsheet's API
- Self-serve API: you can create a key in your account
- Style: REST (JSON)
- Authentication: An API access token generated under Personal Settings > API Access and sent as a Bearer token. Smartsheet's docs explain how to revoke a token but don't give an expiry date.
- On Zapier: yes. On Make: yes.
Generating a token needs a Business, Enterprise or Advanced Work Management plan. Pro users can't. The token is shown only once, so copy it straight away. Limit: 300 requests a minute per token. A row is added with a POST to /2.0/sheets/{sheetId}/rows, with cell values keyed by column ID, which AssistCall's JSON body template can send. Smartsheet Gov and Smartsheet Regions Europe use separate tokens. n8n has no Smartsheet node, so n8n workflows use an HTTP Request node with the token.
